On June 2-4, some Family Connection coordinators from Regions 9, 11, and 12, got together for a Teen Maze summit hosted by the Southeast Health District (SEHD). Ambi Bess and her team from the SEHD wanted to use this opportunity to get our Teen Mazes back on track after the pandemic disruptions and as a way of thanking us for being such stalwart partners through it all. We enjoyed group activities, planning sessions, fantastic speakers, great food and even better team building adventures. In the end, we all agreed, it's time to get back into the schools and get back on track!

Pierce County Family Connection donated 42 Coats to the Okefenokee Alliance for the Homeless ahead of the latest cold snap. Niki Spivey, the OATH Navigator, had said there were clients coming in every day looking for coats and they had few, if any. Now they have a bit to get them through for awhile, hopefully until Georgia weather changes its mind again and makes it warmer.

Every year Pierce County Family Connection donates a book to each child in their local Head Start and Early Head Start, but this year they took it to the next level. In a move to help get parents engaged in reading to the children, instead of just giving the book, Curious George Makes Pancakes,, the children were also given a packet of pancake mix and directions, to go along with it. Hopefully, the families all shared in a good story and a wonderful breakfast treat.

Halloween brought out a beloved character, in a favorite book, to read to Patterson Elementary's Kindergarten classes. Cordelia Crow, aka, Stephanie Bell of Pierce County Family Connection visited the school on October 28th to share The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. The children happily joined in on the story and not one of them was afraid of a silly old crow either!
